The Caring for Children course is targeted to newcomers and low literacy learners and provides opportunities for participants to learn about the childcare profession including both daycare and day home development; to explore different views on parenting from an early childhood development perspective; and to introduce and prepare learners to pursue certification in the field of childcare. Course materials have been developed specifically to meet the learning needs of the target audience with content closely aligned with the “Child Care Orientation Course”. Activities have been developed, both written and interactive, to engage the learners and support the theory. This includes field trips to four childcare and early learning sites including two at Candora, the Intercultural Child and Family Centre and Norquest.
