By the end of this session\, you will have detailed knowledge of one website that includes multiple tutorials\, activities\, and resources for digital literacy. During small group discussions\, you will explore basic computer skills (hardware and software)\, internet skills (searching and email)\, and other foundational learning skills (math\, reading and grammar\, etc.). \nThis session is designed for front-line educators (tutors\, instructors and facilitators)\, but everyone is welcome. ECALA invites you to join us in this learning space to share resources\, strategies\, relaxation techniques or look at ways to manage self-care. You will help design what happens in this space. This is the first of a series that will happen on the second Friday of the month. DESCRIPTION:Date: Monday\, January 17\, 2022\nTime: 9:00 am – 3:30 pm\nWhere: Online\nFacilitator: Line Perron\, Imagine Institute \nDid you know that there are ways of responding to trauma that are often confused with personality traits?  In this one-day session\, we will explore the impact of trauma\, the different ways it shows up in individuals and ways in which we can create trauma-informed interactions.  We will explore the 6 principles of trauma-informed care and how they can be translated into a virtual classroom.   Trauma-informed care aims to provide services in ways that recognize the client’s need for emotional and physical safety\, as well as provide the opportunity for client choice\, control and collaboration (Arthur et al.\, 2013). \nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will be able to:\n– Define trauma and understand the different types of trauma\n– Identify the signs and symptoms of trauma\n– Understand the impacts and effects of trauma\n– Define and understand trauma-informed practice\n– Identify the main principles of trauma-informed practice\n– Understand how to implement trauma-informed principles\n– Recognize the impact working with trauma can have on a practitioner and understand the importance of self-care and reflective practice \nIf you are not connected with one of ECALA’s funded agencies (staff\, volunteer or facilitator)\, there will be a $20 registration fee/person. DESCRIPTION:Date: Tuesday\, January 25\, 2022\nTime: 6:00 – 8:00 pm\nWhere: Online\nFacilitator: Nada Jerkovic \nThe Skills for Learning category in the CALP Guidelines includes “learning opportunities that support the development of the fundamental skills and habits of learning that support foundational learners to build confidence\, develop an identity as a learner\, advocate for themselves and engage in foundational and other learning.” (p 14 CALP Guidelines 2020) \nThe purpose of this workshop is to offer and share information\, insights\, and suggestions relevant to designing and implementing programs aligned with the new category.
