Loading Programs

The Connect Cooks course focuses on building foundational life skills through learning and cooking activities with complex foundational learners so they are better able to complete day to day tasks independently. These learners are Deaf and often have additional challenges such as significant language deprivation and/or disabilities. The course is based on the Alberta Health Services Collective Kitchen Manual and covers a variety of topics such as healthy eating, food safety, meal planning, etc. The course format alternates between learning sessions and cooking sessions. Topics are chosen based on the interests and relevance for the participants. All information and teaching is presented in a visual mode using visual aids and ASL by the facilitator, support staff and interpreters.
