Basic Digital Skills
July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020
The Digital Skills course is targeted to marginalized citizens, including persons with disabilities who cannot afford to access more formal, typically expensive, educational programs. Adults can benefit from greater access to digital training and learning opportunities, whether their personal goals are related to digital inclusion, upgrading or employability. People with relevant digital skills can safely access news and information, communicate with friends and family, and access important services related to health, government, banking, etc and otherwise enjoy the many benefits of participating in the global knowledge society. Class participants receive hands-on help with the basic computer skills necessary for work and in daily life. Participants learn to use the mouse and become familiar with the keyboard, the desktop, basic toolbar functions, computer vocabulary, printing, email and basic computer and search techniques. As well, participants learn to find, evaluate, utilize, create and communicate with digital technologies. Computers are provided or adult learners may bring their own digital devices.
